Description

Excessive phosphate concentrations in the water often lead to reduced growth of corals and aquatic plants, as well as unwanted algae growth. Therefore, the phosphate concentration in the aquarium should always be monitored and maintained within an optimal range for the respective organisms. In coral reef aquariums, the optimal phosphate range is between 0.03 and 0.1 mg/l. If phosphate has accumulated in the aquarium water due to contamination from food, nutrient additions, or coral debris, it is sometimes necessary to quickly lower the phosphate concentration back to the recommended levels.

Tropic Marin® Elimi-Phos Rapid is a highly effective lanthanum-based solution that quickly binds phosphates and effectively removes them from the water. This quickly reduces elevated phosphate concentrations to between 0.2 and 0.4 mg/l.

Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

- particularly rapid reduction of highly elevated phosphate levels
- highly effective lanthanum-based solution
- Reduction of phosphate content to a range between 0.2 – 0.4 mg/l

Measure the phosphate concentration in your aquarium and calculate the required amount of Tropic Marin® Elimi-Phos Rapid. Adding 10 ml to 100 liters of aquarium water reduces the phosphate concentration by up to 1 mg/l. We recommend reducing the phosphate concentration by a maximum of 0.1 mg/l per day. This means that a maximum of 1 ml of Tropic Marin® Elimi-Phos Rapid should be added slowly per 100 liters of water. Once you have reached the target range of 0.2–0.4 mg/l phosphate, you should continue adding Tropic Marin® Elimi-Phos Longlife adsorbent granules to further reduce and stabilize the phosphate concentration at a low level.

We recommend the following phosphate concentrations in the aquarium:
- Freshwater: < 0.3–0.5 mg/l;
- Seawater: 0.02–0.15 mg/l;
- Reef aquariums: 0.03-0.1 mg/l.

Phosphate reduction should ideally be carried out in a filter tank with a mechanical filter upstream of a skimmer, which completely removes the precipitated phosphates from the system. Adding the phosphate dropwise using a dosing pump is optimal.

The following aspects should be considered:
- Individual organisms, especially corals, which are adapted to elevated phosphate concentrations, may react with stress to too rapid a reduction. If such symptoms are observed in individual animals, application should be suspended for 1–2 days and then resumed at half the dosage.
- Monitor carbonate hardness – occasionally, a slight reduction in carbonate hardness may occur. In this case, the carbonate hardness can be increased with Tropic Marin® Triple Buffer.
or liquid buffer can be increased back to the original value.
- All organisms require a very small amount of phosphate; 0.00 mg/l in an aquarium is not practical. Therefore, Tropic Marin® Elimi-Phos Rapid should not be used in excess.

Keep out of reach of children!

WARNING: The use of Elimi-Phos Rapid may kill existing flatworms of the genera Waminoa, Concolutriloba, and possibly also Acropora flatworms. Therefore, before applying Elimi-Phos Rapid, as many flatworms as possible should be vacuumed to minimize the release of flatworm toxins.
