Test instructions - only 2 steps
Each kit contains 50 tests.
1. Add 2 ml of Ca-1 into the test tube using the 2.5 ml syringe.
2. Add 0.15 ml of Ca-2 powder into the test cuvette and swirl it.
- The solution should take on this color.
Firmly attach the metal needle of the 1 ml syringe and draw up the aquarium water until the bottom of the syringe's black rubber tip is exactly at the 1.00 ml mark. Before performing this step, make sure the needle is free of liquid and remains submerged in water at all times to prevent air from entering the syringe.
- The presence of an air layer between the liquid and the black part of the syringe is normal and does not affect the result. (The normal air layer you should see corresponds to 0.1 ml.)
4. Add aquarium water drop by drop into the test tube and swirl it slightly after each drop until the solution has this color.
Caution: Before using the test cuvette, make sure that it has been washed only with RO water and dried with a soft paper towel.
- If the solution in the test cuvette does not reach this color and you have used up all the aquarium water in the syringe, return to step 3 (this means that the calcium concentration is below 320 ppm).
- If the color has still not changed after adding 1.00 ml of water for the second time, this means that the calcium concentration is below 160 ppm.
A faster test can be performed without the metal needle, but the error rate is 3%.
Note the position of the lower black part of the syringe (each division corresponds to 0.01 ml) and obtain the calcium concentration from Table 1. Readings should be taken at the position of the lower end of the black rubber of the syringe.
- If you need to return to step 3 a second time, use Table 2 to determine the calcium concentration. NSW Calcium is 400 ppm. We recommend maintaining the calcium level in the tank between 390-440 ppm. For low calcium levels, use Royal Calcium powder or liquid to maintain the parameters between 390-440 ppm.
The volume of salt water that can be produced from a single bucket of 23 kg of Royal Nature Ion Balanced Pro Salt depends on the required SG or PPT of the final solution. To achieve a specific gravity of -1.0264 = 35.5 PPT, we recommend mixing 1 kg of Royal Nature Ion Balanced Pro Salt with 26 liters of RO water using a recirculation pump.
The resulting salt water is ready for use when the salt is completely dissolved, which should take about 30 minutes. Best results are achieved at a temperature of 24-25°C (74-76°F). Check the salinity with a reliable and calibrated refractometer and add salt or water to achieve the correct level. We recommend monitoring the water parameters before adding the water to the tank.
A weekly partial water change of 10-12% with Royal Nature Ion Balanced Pro Salt ensures the balance of all macro and microelements with their natural values.
Caution! When replacing synthetic salt with Royal Nature Ion Balanced Pro Salt, please ensure that the first water change does not exceed 3-4%, the second change 5-6%, and the third change 8-10%. Regular water changes should not exceed 25% at a time.
