Protoreaster lincki – Decorative starfish with striking coloration
Protoreaster lincki is a large, strikingly colored starfish from the Indo-Pacific. With its characteristic red to orange markings and dark, horn-like projections, it is a real eye-catcher in larger saltwater aquariums.
Characteristics:

Striking appearance: Strongly colored body with black, knot-like projections

Size: Up to 25–30 cm in diameter – therefore only suitable for large pools

Ground dweller: Moves slowly over sand and rocky areas

Keeping them alone is recommended: May be intolerant to other starfish or sensitive invertebrates

Not reefsafe: May harass or eat small animals or corals
Keeping conditions:

Aquarium size: At least 300 liters recommended

Diet: Scavenger, also accepts frozen food, mussel meat or food tablets

Substrate: Fine sand and stable rock structures

Water parameters: Stable conditions, especially salinity and temperature are important (SG 1.023–1.025, 24–26 °C)
⚠️ Note: Not suitable for reef aquariums with sensitive invertebrates. Recommended only for experienced aquarists and large systems.
