No longer struggle to get accurate results for your saltwater aquarium with our simple, portable colorimeter. Our nitrite colorimeter bridges the gap between nitrite test kits and advanced measurement technology. Standard test kits have limited accuracy because they rely on the human eye to determine colors. Our portable colorimeter eliminates the hassle of comparing with a color chart, providing a direct saltwater nitrite result.
- Our portable handheld colorimeter can be taken wherever you go.
- With the simple one-button design, you can achieve your nitrite results effortlessly.
- Don't worry about choosing the right color, our colorimeter will do it for you.
Nitrification is the biological oxidation of ammonia (ammonium ions) to nitrite, followed by the oxidation of nitrites to nitrates. The first step of this two-step process is carried out in an aquarium by nitrifying bacteria. During this rapid process, the ammonium level decreases while the nitrite level increases. Since nitrite is just as harmful as ammonia, the nitrite level should be kept at an undetectable level. A sophisticated biological filter should be able to keep nitrite levels low.
If tap water is to be used in an aquarium, it is recommended to test it for phosphate as well as silicate, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH and alkalinity.
The HI764 Checker® Handheld Colorimeter bridges the gap between simple chemical test kits and professional instruments. Chemical test kits are not very accurate, while professional meters can cost hundreds of dollars and their calibration and maintenance can be time-consuming. The Hanna Checker® is accurate, affordable, and easy to use.
To begin the measurements, first zero the device with your water sample. Next, add the reagent. Finally, place the vial in the Checker®, press the button, and read the results. It's that simple.
The contoured shape of this Checker® fits perfectly in your palm and pocket, and the large LCD display is easy to read. The automatic shut-off feature ensures the battery doesn't drain if you forget to turn the device off.
Features at a glance:
- Easier to use and more accurate than chemical test kits
- Specifically for a single parameter
- Small size, big comfort
- Ideal for: Water quality, environment, plating, education
